Brave in the Becoming

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

Change has a way of revealing what we truly believe about God.

When life shifts beneath our feet and we find ourselves stepping into unfamiliar territory, our first instinct is often to grip tightly to what we know. We want guarantees. We want roadmaps. We want to see the entire journey before we take the first step.

But God rarely works that way.

He calls us forward into new chapters without handing us the whole manuscript. He invites us to trust Him in the transition, to believe that His plans for us are good even when we can't yet see the outcome. This isn't cruelty. It's an invitation to deeper faith.

Think about the women in Scripture who faced new chapters. Sarah, leaving everything familiar to follow Abraham into the unknown. Ruth, choosing to step into a foreign land with nothing but faith. Esther, accepting a role she never sought for such a time as that. Each one had to be brave in the becoming, trusting God's sovereignty over their own understanding.

God doesn't waste your preparation.

Every experience you've walked through, every lesson you've learned, every challenge you've overcome has been shaping you for what comes next. The skills you developed in your last season aren't obsolete. They're foundational. God has been building something in you, and now He's ready to use it in ways you haven't imagined.

But here's what we often miss: God is more interested in who you're becoming than in what you're doing. The new chapter isn't just about a change in circumstances. It's about a transformation in character. He's refining your faith, deepening your dependence on Him, and teaching you to walk by His Spirit rather than your own strength.

The discomfort you feel is not a sign you've made a mistake.

It's evidence that you're growing. Stretching always feels uncomfortable at first. When a caterpillar enters the cocoon, everything it has known dissolves. The process is messy and confining and completely necessary. Without it, there would be no butterfly. Without this season of becoming, you won't spread the wings God has given you.

So what do you do when fear whispers that you're not qualified? When doubt suggests you should retreat to safer ground? When anxiety paints worst-case scenarios in your mind?

You remember whose you are.

You belong to the God who doesn't call the qualified but qualifies the called. You serve the Lord who provides everything you need for the assignment He gives. You trust the Father who has never started something in you that He won't finish.

This new chapter is not about your adequacy. It's about His sufficiency. It's not about your perfection. It's about His grace. It's not about your strength. It's about His power working through your weakness.

Be brave today.

Not because you have all the answers, but because you know the One who does. Not because the path is clear, but because the Guide is faithful. Not because you feel ready, but because God has already prepared the way.

He is with you in every uncertain moment. He goes before you into every unknown tomorrow. And He is completing the good work He began in you.

Trust Him in the becoming. He's making you into exactly who you need to be.

REFLECT: What new chapter is God calling you into today? What fears do you need to surrender to His faithful care?

PRAY: "Father, I confess my fears about this new season. Help me trust that You are working in me and through me. Give me courage to step forward in faith, knowing You complete what You begin. In Jesus' name, amen."
